The Village of Plainfield is currently seeking to fill the full-time position of Development Engineer. This position is responsible for reviewing, permitting, and inspecting private development projects to ensure they comply with village codes, engineering standards, and infrastructure requirements. They act as the liaison between developers, consultants, and the municipality, ensuring that new residential, commercial, or industrial projects align with the community's long-term planning and infrastructure goals and capacity.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or closely related field. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in municipal engineering, land development, or civil design consulting. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
- Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Illinois, and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM).
- Possession of a valid Illinois Driver’s License.

This position will participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Pension. Have the option of participating in a 457 Retirement plan, and an employee wellness program. Paid vacation, two personal days, twelve sick days, and eleven paid holidays are provided annually. The salary range for this exempt position is $93,890 – $126,750 annually, with an anticipated starting salary of $93,890-$110,320, depending on qualifications and experiences.
