8/31, 4:20 p.m.: Public Works crews have completed the first round of storm debris cleanup throughout the entire Village and will now begin the final round of storm debris pickup. Please have all storm debris curbside by 8:00 am on Wednesday, September 2, for Public Works pickup. After September 2, all private property tree and landscaping debris will need to be disposed of through Waste Management or a privately contracted landscaping service. We will be transitioning to parkway tree and stump removals later this week after parkway pickups are completed.
If utilizing Waste Management, brush and branches must be cut into 4 ft. lengths and bundled with string or twine. Each bundle must not exceed 50 lbs. Unbundled brush will not be collected. Whole trees and limbs greater than 4 inches in diameter, along with mulch, stumps, sod, and dirt are not included in the weekly collection.
8/21, 11:10 a.m.: The first round of storm debris cleanup has generally been completed on the northern side of the Village and crews are currently working in and near the Wallin Woods subdivision. Public Works will then move to the Indian Oaks and Liberty Grove subdivisions followed by Winding Creek, Arbor Creek, and other subdivisions on the south side of the Village.
A separate crew will be performing spot pickups for additional storm debris that has been placed in the parkway after our initial cleanup. Please be aware that crews will be out on Saturday continuing storm cleanup. Periodic updates will be provided in the future as Public Works crews make additional progress through the Village.

8/18, 4 p.m.: Parkway cleanup work in the Old Town area, including Lockport Street, has been substantially completed and that crew will now begin work on larger trees that require full removal due to the storm. A separate crew is currently working in the Grande Park area and will then move to the Walker's Grove, Shenandoah, and Tuttle Estates subdivisions. Public Works will be continuing to work overtime and Saturdays to complete the cleanup; we anticipate that cleanup will still take another two weeks. To assist in collection and allow for routine services such as mail delivery and garbage pickup, storm debris should be placed in the parkway and not in the street or curb line. 8/14, 2:45 p.m.: Cleanup in the Old Town area is continuing and will require a moving work zone utilizing flaggers this afternoon, along Lockport Street, to clear the remaining storm damage in this area. Work in the Downtown and Village Green area has taken considerable time due to the mature tree damage from the storm and the need for full tree removal due to unsafe conditions.
Crews have completed their first round of cleanup in the subdivisions located north of 135th Street/east of US Route 30/west of IL Route 59 and are scheduled to complete the Marybrook subdivision today. Crews will then begin debris removal in the Whispering Creek and Wallin Woods subdivisions. To assist in collection and allow for routine services such as mail delivery and garbage pickup, storm debris should be placed in the parkway and not in the street or curb line.

8/13, 7:25 p.m.: Public Works has multiple crews working on storm cleanup with work currently focused in the downtown area (Village Green and Old Town). The initial cleanup in the downtown area is anticipated to continue through Friday at which point crews will expand to other areas of the Village. 8/12, 8:40 a.m.: Public Works is now picking up storm debris, including private property damage, from the parkways. Please be patient, this process will take time.
8/11, 1:34 p.m.: Public Works is currently working with the Police Department and Fire District to clear tree debris that is blocking public roadways. We are compiling locations around the Village that have reported storm damage and will be responding to these requests after all public roadways have reopened. For non-emergency tree debris collection, please email Public Works at publicworks@goplainfield.com. Due to the significant amount of damage from these storms, it will take Public Works time to respond to storm damage that is not an emergency situation. Thank you for your patience.
